President Arias Poverty foresees increased poverty this year

President Oscar Arias said that it is very possible that poverty will increase this year. Arias made this assertion in a radio program known as Our Voice (Nuestra Voz) on Radio Monumental. The reason given as substantiation for this is the increase in food prices, and he added that the same thing will happen in the rest of Latin America.

He also said he felt very happy to be able to have reduced poverty last year, but that given the circumstances it would not be the same this year....

MarViva helps with patrolling Osa

The MarViva Foundation, which has long been collaborating with the government in the work of joint patrols to prevent illegal fishing, announced the start of permanent patrolling operations throughout the Osa Peninsula area. The goal is to complement the work being done by the National Guard and the rangers of the area who are part of the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Telecommunications (Minaet by its initials in Spanish).

Multiplaza Escazú with an avenue of luxury stores

The well-known shopping mall belonging to Grupo Roble, Multiplaza in Escazu, announced that its fifth phase will have an avenue where the objective is to have stores with brands by designers known worldwide. Grupo Poma president, Ricardo Poma, owner of Grupo Roble, stated that he cannot yet say which stores will be located in this avenue but that negotiations are under way and that some designers are thinking of the possibility of opening their shops in Costa Rica.

New cultural center in Cartago

After spending 18 years in a dilapidated state and being a home to indigents, the old train station in Cartago became a cultural center. The refitting had a cost of ¢85 million that were invested by the Municipality of Cartago, which had the permission of the Instituto Costarricense de Ferrocarriles-INCOFER-(by its initials in Spanish, owner of the building) overseen by the Center for Research and Conservation at the Ministry of National Heritage, Culture and Youth.
