| The records of public hospitals in Costa Rica show that in recent years the demand for the operation known as a vasectomy, which aims to sterilize the man by cutting off channels that allow the sperm to reach the semen, has gone up. The number increased by 1079%.
While in 2000 only 105 men had a vasectomy, in 2007 there were 1238 in total. Each year, 1231 men between the ages of 25 to 44 are operated, according to the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS by its initials in Spanish).... |
