The traditional Festival of Lights that takes place every December in San Jose, Costa Rica, has already chosen who its next Marshal is going to be this year and it is the well-known Latin American Idol finalist María José Castillo.
The activity will take place on December 13 at 6 p.m. The announcement was made by the Municipality of San Jose through its Mayor Johnny Araya, who was accompanied by relatives of the singer, an official from the council, and personnel from the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE by its initials in Spanish) during the announcement.
Among the reasons for the nomination are her perseverance and example to the people and future generations. After the announcement, everyone in the auditorium where the announcement was made erupted into cheers
María José‘s mom and dad were at the activity’s main table. They received the letter with her accreditation as the Marshal for the 12th Festival of Lights. The marshals of last Year’s Festival were the athletes who represented Costa Rica in the Special Olympics in China. A group of these athletes was in the room and made their support known to the family of the singer in the reality show.
During the presentation of her name as a marshal, María José answered the call that was made to her in Argentina after she left a rehearsal. Her mother let her know that she will be in the studio where the contest takes place to lend her up-close support for her final concert.
In Costa Rica, there has been a phenomenon of extreme support. For example at the National Auditorium of the Museum of Children, several artists will give a show to raise funds to be used to send text messages.
The concert will include artists such as Humberto Vargas, Pato Barraza and Luis Angel Salazar, who represented Costa Rica in the latest version of the Viña del Mar Festival. The entrance will cost ¢ 1,000.
So to all those who read TicosLand.com, you are invited, and we ask you to support our fellow Costa Rican so that she can win the Latin American Idol final. We hope so.
