Thousands of Catholics from all parts of the country, walked for several hours to say yes to the Costa Rican family yesterday, in the event organized by the Pastoral Family of the Archdiocese of San Jose, with the slogan "Your family is a treasure...take care of it." The hike began after 9 a.m. from the statue of former president León Cortés Castro. It went through the Paseo Colon, Second Avenue and ended at the Metropolitan Cathedral at noon. Subsequently, a Mass was conducted by the Archbishop of San Jose monsignor Hugo Barrantes Ureña.
According to the organizers, the objective was met, which was to promote family values and integration and at the same time bring Church together with the family to proclaim the importance of Christian values, human and civil rights. With the walk yesterday the month dedicated to the family closed, during which the efforts of the Church and officials of the ministry were reflected in the various actions of evangelization in parishes and schools.
"It's a way that expresses the spirit of the Church and that despite the difficult situations that the family is living, Church has not lost the hope of recovering those things that God wants for the family," noted the organizers.
There were typical bands and passacaglias and organized parishes with positive messages. The marchers had the collaboration of the Traffic Police, Municipal Police, security forces and members of the Costa Rican Red Cross.
