National University strengthens security

The National University of Costa Rica (UNA by its initials in Spanish), launched a campaign to strengthen security at its campuses in different facilities.

They did this to prevent criminal gangs from operating in the vicinity. Computer equipment thefts and car break-ins are among the most commonly reported crimes.

Costa Rica tops list of democracies in the region

The annual report of the index for Democratic Development in Latin America, IDD-Lat 2008, announced that Costa Rica is in first place this time around. This is a private study done by Polilat.com and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and was released in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

High School students learn to program in Java

Thanks to the Omar Dengo Foundation, a selected group of students from public schools across the country are participating in the initiative “Programando Nuestro Futuro,” in which the Java programming language is learned for two years.
