FEUCR is taken to the Constitutional Court

We have seen lately how appeals to the Constitutional Court are more common since the population has become aware of the importance of defending and asserting their rights.
But something unusual is happening in Costa Rica at the moment, and that is that the Federation of Students of the University of Costa Rica was taken to the Constitutional Court because the university is undergoing the electoral process and the party Reacción Universitaria (RU) asked for information about or copies of the economic reports of the federal entity and have not received a response.
It should be made clear that the University of Costa Rica, although it is an autonomous entity, is part of the state, so that everything having to do with student organizational structures is governed by the state system. Therefore, the members of this political group could raise the appeal before the Constitutional Court. They made a formal request for information which can be interpreted as a breach of duties if the request is not answered.
But the FEUCR responded that this economic report is in the office of university planning, that it must pass through there before they can do anything else. In addition, they point out that they have had problems with the issue of funding, so the report is just being finished.
The appeal has not been given due formality because it is a very recent submission, so we have to wait and see what happens with this. What is very clear is that even in university policy rights are being asserted that were not given much thought in the past.
For all of the students of the UCR, we hope that everything goes well in these elections and TicosLand.com wishes you success in the process.
