The National University of Costa Rica (UNA by its initials in Spanish) will have a science park donated by China very soon.
A mission from the Asian country, led by the deputy secretary general of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Zheng Guoan, visited the university campus this past June to assess the conditions for the installation of the park.
During the tour, the six Chinese experts visited the laboratories of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Santa Lucia Farm belonging to the UNA, which was projected as a possible location for the installation of the science park.
Undersecretary Guoan was impressed by the efforts of our country in terms of research and specialists in the field of science and technology.
For the Asian, these efforts constitute a basis for considering the possibility of building the science park, as well as to exchange knowledge and experiences among research universities in both countries.
For his part, the rector of the UNA, Olman Segura, stressed the need for foreign investment to boost progress in the investigations being conducted at universities in Costa Rica and achieve the goal of providing added value to export products.
This is a project that we see in TicosLand.com as being of great benefit. It is no secret that in Costa Rica there is a great capacity for research and development, but we need greater economic stimulus to allow further investigation and better results. The cooperation of this Asian country would achieve this goal.
