I have noticed that Ticos have some cultural peculiarities.
They tend to always be late no matter what the occasion is. I have a cousin who was late to his own wedding. They had to go get him out the cantina, smashed drunk and the priest married him anyway.
I have heard some really great excuses why they were late. One guy must have had his grandma die on him at least 4 times.
I don’t know how many he has left. Has anyone else noticed these cultural idiosyncrasies?
Another Costa Rican idiosyncrasy the TicosLand community may have noticed is the "mañana" attitude. In Costa Rica, it might mean tomorrow, next week or whenever; and "ya voy" means right now, in an hour, in a few hours or never.
I have noticed the Costa Rican tendency to say a lot of things and not mean anything. I have a cousin who will talk your ear off for half an hour just to say hello.
