Default Oscar Arias and the state of affairs

Does anyone else think that Oscar Arias isn't really doing anything for Costa Rica? I mean, he got the new soccer stadium, but so what? Fuel, food and the cost of living are up in general. What I put in my pocket isn't as much as it was last year. I can't save money in the bank because the interest rates don't keep up with inflation. Inflation is up. The CAFTA still hasn't been ratified. What has he actually done except take some time off because he had a sore throat?

Hi Derek...

As Tico, it’s hard to say… But I think you tells the true.

Oscar Arias is not fixing anything about the security in the streets. Or He fix the problems with the fuel costs?

What about the CAFTA (or TLC)? Come on… That won’t fix any of our issues; we have more than 20 years without invest in our internal infrastructure. With the CAFTA we won’t change anything.

This is the real world.

Yeah, welcome to the real world where nothing really gets done and it's called progress. Aren't we still waiting for a highway which has taken 30 years?

Life in Costa Rica is like that. Nothing gets done, the country falls further behind and somehow they call this progress. Oscar Arias travels and talks, travels some more and talks, and then he travels some more and talks and the roads still suck, poverty and prices are up, inflation is up, the colon is worthless, and he is still traveling and talking. He seems to be doing something, but nobody can figure out what it is. Somebody take his pulse to make sure he is still breathing.
